Recently, the movie ‘Helpless,’ starring Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin and directed by Park Chan-wook, unveiled its official stills. The film started filming on August 17 last year and wrapped on January 16 this year, with a scheduled release in the fall. Adapted from American writer Donald Westlake’s novel ‘The Ax,’ the story revolves around a middle-class man who, after losing his job, publishes a fake job advertisement in a magazine to eliminate five competitors who are more talented, younger, and handsome than him. He oscillates between despair and hope, eventually resorting to killing his competitors one by one.
The film ‘Helpless’ marks Lee Byung-hun’s third collaboration with Park Chan-wook, following ‘Joint Security Area’ in 2000 and ‘Three… Extremes’ in 2004, after a 20-year hiatus.
Actor Yoo Yeon-seok reunites with Park Chan-wook after 21 years since their 2003 film ‘Oldboy.’
The movie ‘Helpless’ is currently in the intense post-production phase and is set to premiere in the fall of 2025.
