Korean dramas never disappoint when it comes to professional settings. From heartwarming stories in ‘Wise Doctor Life’ to the gritty ‘Secret Forest’ prosecutor series and the revealing ‘Law School’ legal dramas, each one is a masterpiece.
Most of the time, drama series focus on one specific profession, like the intense portrayal of police officers in crime dramas like ‘Flower of Evil’ or ‘Watcher’.
However, the latest release, ‘Next to the Fire Station, Beside the Police Station’, breaks the mold by intertwining the lives of police officers and firefighters. As they join forces to rescue victims and solve crimes, the show offers a more realistic and thrilling viewing experience.
Set in the small town of Taeyuan in Korea, the police station and fire station are neighbors. The protagonist, Chen Haosu (played by Kim Raiwon), is a tough investigator who is willing to go to any lengths, even using questionable methods, to capture criminals.
The series kicks off with a high-energy ‘Female Kidnapping Case’. A vulnerable woman is abducted and locked in a room by the criminal. In a desperate move, she barricades the door to buy time for a rescue.
Upon receiving the report, the police team led by Chen Haosu and the firefighters spring into action. While the police analyze the situation to locate the criminal, the firefighters stand by for rescue. However, with thousands of units in the complex and no visible landmarks from the victim’s window, finding the exact location becomes a daunting task.
