By day, 5-8 is a dutiful courier, delivering oxygen and other necessities to those in need, but by night, he transforms into the ‘Apocalypse Knight,’ plotting to overthrow the decadent world represented by Liu Xi. Throughout the series, Jin Yu Bin showcases not only his physicality and combat prowess but also conveys 5-8’s steadfast belief in challenging social injustices through nuanced performance. In an interview, he expressed how meaningful it was for him to be part of a project that explores societal inequalities.
Another key character in this conflict is Colonel Xue E, portrayed by Li Xu. She is not only April’s savior but also a crucial driver of the story. As a military officer, Xue E understands the rules of society’s operation but also sees the darkness and injustice within. Thus, in the series, she solemnly warns 5-8, cautioning him that continuing to resist may lead to uncontrollable consequences.
