Recently, there has been an increase in film and television adaptations of comics, and one of the must-see classics is the Korean comedy masterpiece ‘The Voice in Your Mind.’ Based on the hilarious comic by renowned Korean cartoonist Choe Seok, the series stars Lee Kwang-soo and Jung So-min. With 10 episodes, each only 30 minutes long, it is both light-hearted and engaging. Despite appearing to be a daily comedy, the nonsensical plot and full humor-filled setting make viewers laugh until they can’t stop.
‘The Voice in Your Mind’ tells the story of cartoonist Choe Seok and the hilarious daily life with his family and girlfriend. Choe Seok, played by the ‘god of comedy’ Lee Kwang-soo, and Jung So-min as his girlfriend, Aebong.
Lee Kwang-soo brings his own aura of humor, just standing there can make the audience burst into laughter. With special guest appearances by Song Joong-ki and Kim Jong-kook, it’s even more surprising! This series not only excels in humor but also integrates heartwarming and touching elements, making it both funny and healing, leaving viewers feeling happy and full of positive energy after watching.
The series features many unforgettable scenes. For example, in one episode, Choe Seok and Aebong accidentally get trapped in an elevator. Initially panicking, they think there has been an elevator accident, start thinking irrationally, feeling anxious and even thinking that they are doomed. However, just when they are in despair, they suddenly realize that they forgot to press the elevator floor button! This nonsensical plot design makes people laugh out loud, and the exaggerated reactions of the characters make the audience almost unable to contain their laughter. This absurd and unexpected plot is the charm of ‘The Voice in Your Mind,’ bringing unexpected surprises and laughter to viewers in every episode.
In addition to the funny interactions between the main characters, Choe Seok’s family is also a source of humor. His parents and brother each have unique personalities, and the interaction between family members is both heartwarming and hilarious. In one episode, Choe Seok’s family decides to practice speaking English together, trying to improve their self-image. However, the results are predictable, and the ‘English proficiency’ of the family members fills the entire scene with humor, with continuous mistakes in English and awkward pronunciations making people laugh uncontrollably. This nonsensical interaction among family members makes the plot both relatable and highly comedic, just like those harmless funny moments in our daily lives.
